Development and Evaluation of Portable NIR Technology for the Identification and Quantification of Australian Illicit Drugs
This study evaluates portable near-infrared spectroscopy and machine learning to rapidly identify and quantify illicit drugs in Australia.
This study evaluates using handheld NIR spectroscopy with machine learning models to rapidly identify and quantify illicit drugs seized in Australia. Testing 608 specimens showed high identification accuracy (97.5–99.2%) and purity predictions within ±15% uncertainty for 99% of samples, demonstrating its value for frontline law enforcement.
